More senior Laurel readers will recall when the Hartford-New Haven media market ranked in the low 20s in the country. The Designated Media Areas (DMA’s) are based on population; New York is #1, Los Angeles #2, Chicago is #3, etc. A Laurel reader who remembers when we were #23 informs us that Hartford-New Haven has now slipped to #33. TV sales managers could tell you if that hurts the stations and their national advertising revenue. We just know it hurts our pride a bit.
