Mark Effron , a longtime WFSB News Director in the late 80s and much of the 90s, has been named vice president and news director of WPIX, Tribune’s CW affiliate in New York. In his post-WFSB years Mark was, among other things, vice president of news and daytime programming at MSNBC. We’ll repeat what we wrote a few years ago: “Okay, okay… a few of you WFSB alumni are groaning to hear us praise Mark but you must admit that he tried to maintain standards while getting caught up in the tidal wave of change in local news.” Best wishes Mark.
