The Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is offering a session called “Making Sense of the Census: Your Roadmap to Great Connecticut Stories in the 2010 Census”

Before the new Census questionnaires hit the mail in March, come learn how to cover the Census accurately, quickly and smartly – even if you have no background in statistics. Ana-Maria Garcia and Arthur Bakis of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Boston office will offer insight into how to find news in the numbers, and how to avoid common mistakes and misinterpretations. They’ll also share tips from Census canvassers that can help any journalist interview suspicious or reluctant interviewees.
When: Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m.

   Admission: Free
Where: UConn at Storrs (The Class of ’47 Room at the Babidge Library)
Sponsors: Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists and the University of Connecticut Journalism Dept.
