In a story from the Hartford Business Journal, the leader of Hearst Newspapers promises big changes and further investment in news gathering in Connecticut.

Earlier this year Hearst acquired the New Haven Register, Middletown Press and Torrington Register-Citizen adding to its stable of Fairfield County based newspapers. The purchase gives Hearst a footprint covering much of the Connecticut market south and west of Hartford. It doesn’t take a management degree to understand how Hearst can use that footprint to add news staff when most of the state’s remaining dailies continue to scale down.
