Page 5 of the Sunday New York Times was a full-page ad for “CBS This Morning” which debuts a new format Monday morning, January 9th. WFSB alum Gayle King is a co-host. According to the ad, “The News is Back in Morning News,” and goes on to promise that the “world-class” reporting of the CBS News division will now be reflected in its morning program.
Flip a few pages and you’ll come across a full-pager that says “Others Can Try to Imitate.. But there’s only one Morning Joe…” referring to the MSNBC morning program that features politics. WFSB alum Mika Brzezinski is a co-host.
Gayle and Mika overlapped at WFSB and are friendly – but the dueling ads reflect the fierce competition for morning viewers.
