It seemed that some Connecticut news outlets couldn’t bear to report the truth yesterday – that the rally for the UConn women’s championship basketball team at Gampel Pavilion was not very well attended. The Associated Press made that clear (as did Joe D’Ambrosio on WTIC-am), but from what we’ve heard, most local television news departments couldn’t bear to admit that. Hey, it doesn’t mean they aren’t GREAT and that the state doesn’ t love them – it’s just that a victory rally at Gampel is becoming de rigeur around here, which in and of itself is a pretty amazing thing.
Excellent point, well taken. But could you come in and help answer the phones? Because not everyone can handle it. Really.
“Couldn’t bear to admit it”? Did you look at the pictures in everyone’s live shot? Notice all the empty seats behind the team on the wider angles..certainly not what has been on camera from the previous events, that’s for sure.
KirkV, Gerry,
Sorry. I’m not sure what your points are.
Kirk, are you saying that the pictures told the story, so the reporters didn’t have to mention the poor attendance? That seems far-fetched, so I’m guessing you mean something else.
Gerry, I’m completely in the dark on what you mean.
This story makes an interesting dioirsevn from the sudden , vicious eviction over the weekend by the Bristol Gestapo .Yet another example of just how wrong things can get w/o proper oversight of a government run amuck . 🙁
