Ex Post Factoid

Another significant departure from the Washington Post. Columnist Alexandra Petri, whose writing usually looks at the news with humor, is leaving the paper for The Atlantic.

This is the latest in a series of departures from the Post since the last presidential election and owner Jeff Bezos’s decision to restrict the focus of the opinion pages. In case you missed it, long-time columnist Eugene Robinson quietly left the paper last month, in part because of the new editorial direction. A few months earlier, longtime columnist Ruth Marcus resigned over editorial differences and has been freelancing for The New Yorker.

The Atlantic’s recruitment of Petri is just the latest in a series of new hires at the magazine that is growing in print and online.
