After nearly 30 years on the air at WTIC-AM, morning guy Ray Dunaway is retiring.

As a Trinity College graduate Ray knew Connecticut when he came to Hartford from a Kansas City station(KMBZ) in 1992. He was the second, and as it turned out, permanent replacement for Bob Steele whose morning show record of roughly 50 years still stands.

Known for his laid back style, we also liked when Dunaway imitated an old-time radio DJ spinning tunes.

Brian Shactman, who has been co-hosting with Ray, will now host the morning drive show solo, according to station ownership.

Ray’s last day on the air will be Christmas Eve. Sleeping late Christmas morning will be his gift to himself.
