Longtime Connecticut journalist, editor, and former VP of News and Digital Content at Hearst Media in CT, Matt DeRienzo, has been named the Editor In Chief of The Center for Public Integrity.  Prior to Hearst, DeRienzo served as an editor at the New Haven Register and as Executive Director of LION Publishing.

DeRienzo will be leading the newsroom of one of the nation’s preeminent and well known nonprofit investigative journalism organizations. Click here for the Center’s announcement.

“I am excited that Matt will be our new editor in chief,” said Public Integrity CEO Susan Smith Richardson. “He has a strong understanding of the nonprofit media landscape and how to serve and engage audiences. That is critical to our future. The coronavirus pandemic has shown us how policies emanating from Washington affect people across the country. Matt’s deep connections in local and community journalism will help make our work more accessible, relevant and grounded in communities across the country at this unprecedented time in the nation.”

Congratulations and best of luck to Matt in his new endeavor leading the journalists who shine a bright light on the dark corners of government and private industry.
