It is unclear whether the predictable negative reaction of the news media will have any affect on the decision by Connecticut legislative leaders to seek greater editorial control over the public affairs TV network known as CT-N.

After a round of critical stories last week, the Hartford Courant was the first to editorialize against the move this weekend. Despite the rise of social media, lawmakers continue to use newspaper coverage and newspaper editorials as a key barometer of public opinion. Based on the Courant’s view, the decision to exert control over CT-N’s coverage decisions is a bad idea.
