You may recall the Newtown High football team’s walk-off touchdown pass in last year’s Class LL state championship game. It was recognized as the runner-up in the “Can’t-Stop-Watching Moment” category during Sunday night’s virtual ESPY awards.
The twitter video was captured by the Hartford Courant’s Shawn McFarland and had more than a million views.
“The play — a 64-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Street to Riley Ward — gave the Nighthawks a 13-7 win over Darien as time expired, bringing the town a title on Dec. 14, 2019, seven years to the day after the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School that left 20 first-graders and six educators dead.”
