  1. I find it easier to do as I age. Simplicity is a sign of maitruty, not youth. I am making less do more and the clarity of that experience is thrilling. It is still hard work. A blank sheet of paper or a blank screen is a terrible thing to confront. What abandons us are our reflexes. What replaces them are taste and variety in point of view. It is easier to write by putting myself in other people’s minds and interpreting that. I have much less to say about my own conditions. What I find harder to do is code. I don’t know if it is a loss of capability as much as a sense of boredom. On the other hand, it may just be the content. It was easy to work twelve hours at a stretch on the virtual world just as it is on an arrangement for a choir. It is hard to sit for thirty minutes debugging a script for an insurance form.
