Former Day of New London columnist David Collins, who left The Day last year after a fight with his editors, is now writing for The Westerly Sun.
In his first column for The Sun he briefly makes mention of the circumstances of his departure from The Day, but mostly reintroduces himself and takes a trip down memory lane to his internship with the Providence Journal. Collins was with The Day for over forty years.
The Sun recently announced that it would discontinue its Monday editions and make other changes to refocus its work on local news coverage.
The hiring of Collins, and the other changes, all come in the first few weeks of the tenure of the paper’s new executive editor Alex Nunes who has worked in the past at both The Sun and The Day.
