As many have expected for months, Brian Stelter, the anchor of the CNN program Reliable Sources is leaving after being informed the network is canceling his show.

Stelter was seen as an ally of Jeff Zucker, the CNN president who was ousted earlier this year and replaced by Connecticut native Chris Licht. Licht has been making cuts as the new ownership of CNN has expressed a plan to move towards straight news and away from opinion journalism.

Reliable Sources, which covers the news media, is the longest running original show on CNN. The last episode is scheduled for this coming weekend.

*While both canceled and cancelled are acceptable for the past tense of cancel, the version with one L is more common in American English. The version with two L’s is more common in British English.
