The FCC has signaled it may repeal the cap on the ownership of local television stations across the country in a move that could effect the pending deal between Nexstar(WTNH) and Tegna(Fox61).
The FCC is scheduled to vote on the issue August 6. Chairman Brendan Carr has been quoted as saying the cap that limits the percentage of the country one owner can cover with a network of local stations is no longer relevant in a world where anyone can reach 100% of the audience through streaming.
