We were pleased to hear that our friend, WTNH Chief Capitol & Political Correspondent Mark Davis, is guest hosting on WTIC-am this Thursday, April 22. As readers of The Laurel know by now, the time period that Jim Vicevich once occupied (9-12 noon) is “open” ; Jim left after he and the station couldn’t settle on a contract. Sebastian filled in last week and we’re told that the station will bring in a variety of guest hosts this week. This is a homecoming of sorts for Mark as he hosted “Dial Mark Davis” on WTIC from 1980 to 1987, a general interest radio talk show that aired weeknights from 8PM to Midnight. Starting in 1984, Mark reported and anchored for WTNH during the day, and did the radio show every night.
Mark is doing this for fun, as is Wednesday guest host Geno Auriemma and Friday’s fill-in: UConn football coach Randy Edsall.
As for those who would like the gig permanently, we’re told by a reliable source that former State Senator and radio host Tom Scott was seen at the station last week. Possibly coming in for a “try out” himself?
