The Meriden Record-Journal, a Connecticut newspaper dating back 155 years, has announced it will change its publication schedule and delivery method beginning March 7.

In a letter to readers posted on line last week, the paper announced it will begin publishing five days per week and using an arrangement with the U.S. Postal Service to ensure same day delivery. The five day a week schedule means the paper will be delivered Tuesday through Saturday with a combined Monday-Tuesday edition and a combined Saturday-Sunday edition. The paper says it will continue to publish breaking news on line seven days a week.

The letter to readers cites changes and trends in the newspaper industry for the decision.
