Long-time Meriden Record-Journal reporter and editor Eric Cotton has been named the news organization’s executive editor.
Cotton has been with the paper for more than twenty-five years and has served as managing editor for the last ten. He succeeds Ralph Tomaselli who was the paper’s top editor for seventeen years. Tomaselli suffered a stroke last year and has been unable to return to the position full time, but continues to advise the staff as editor emeritus.
“I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to lead such a talented and special group of dedicated journalists,” Cotton said. “I am a passionate believer in the power of factual, independent journalism that can strengthen our communities…”
