Congratulations to WNPR’s Lori Mack who just won a National Headliner Award. She and NPR’s Martin Kaste collaborated on a report, “America’s Growing Cop Shortage,” which includes coverage of the New Haven Police Department. Officers there are retiring faster than they can be replaced; at the time of the report, the department was 100 officers short, partly due to the hot job market.
