In an unusual move the head of Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority(PURA) has sent a letter to Optimum, warning the cable provider that it may have violated state law.
The PURA letter to the company’s government relations manager says recent job cuts at News 12 Connecticut may constitute a change in programming and may have taken place without proper notice to the state.
A spokesman for the company told CTMirror.org that it remains committed to local news coverage and any recent job reductions are part of an effort to ensure local coverage is sustainable.
