We begin this week, in Paris it would appear, as we commemorate the 50th wedding anniversary of WTNH Chief Capitol Correspondent(Ret.) Mark Davis and his wife Betsy. Congratulations to the happy couple!!

The Domestic Anchor Index(DAI), a measure of the nation’s labor market based on arrivals and departures from Fox 61, took a slight dip last week as two anchors left the Hartford station.

First came the news late last week of the exit of Keith McGilvery, followed by news over the weekend that Angelo Bavaro is also leaving. McGilvery was with the station for eight years(two terms). Bavaro was with Fox 61 for five years. In social media postings neither made mention of future professional plans.

In related economic news, Dow Futures opened the week up in early trading while the price of Light Sweet Crude was off a fraction.

CNN is planning to air a live version of George Clooney’s Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck on June 7th at 7p.m. The play is an adaptation of Clooney’s film about legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow during the McCarthy era.

The latest on the news industry from Pew Research reveals some audience perceptions about “what news is” that are worth noting. The bottom line: News is now defined – more than ever – by the audience and where each individual chooses to access information. This means many social media platforms rank as high as traditional news organizations when determining what the public sees as news.
