Mark Mirko has received a prestigious award from Pictures of the Year International.
The winning photo, posted above, is of a hydrilla suspended in red dye in the Connecticut River. The photo was part of a story for Connecticut Public Media on an Army Corps of Engineers research study.
Mirko is a long time photojournalist in Connecticut. He left the Hartford Courant in 2022 and has been with CT Public ever since as deputy director of visuals.
