The death of former Journal Inquirer photographer Jim Michaud was confirmed late Monday. He was 67.
Michaud worked for thirty-seven years on the JI staff and then worked for Hearst Connecticut Media for almost three full years after Hearst bought the paper in 2023. Michaud also freelanced for The Boston Herald.
He is well known in Connecticut media and emergency services circles for starting the Facebook page known as BreakingNow during the COVID pandemic. The page covers breaking news in Connecticut and has accumulated more than 150,000 followers since its inception.
By Monday evening hundreds of people had posted condolences on the BreakingNow page.
