As we follow the story of the forty-seven migrants, mostly from Venezuela, who were flown last week to Martha’s Vineyard, there are connections to earlier times.

Historian Michael Beschloss posted this photo on his Twitter account showing President Kennedy arriving at what is now Joint Base Cape Cod in 1963. It’s the same location where most of the migrants dropped off on the island were taken at the end of last week.
