Helen Bennett’s name has been synonymous with the New Haven Register since 2004. This week employees at Hearst and the Hartford Courant learned she is leaving her post as Editor for the Register, the Middletown Press and the Register Citizen for the Courant. Her title at the Courant will be Executive Editor.
Kevin Corrado, Group Regional Publisher, shared the news with Courant employees. When Courant top guy Andrew Julien left recently for the New York Daily News, it was announced that “MediaNews Group Regional Publisher Kevin Corrado will take over business operations at the Courant on an interim basis and begin the search for a new editor in Hartford.”
While there have been painful cuts at the Courant, and its newsroom no longer exists, staff members have been grateful for the steady hand of Content Editor Rick Green who basically makes sure the nation’s oldest continuously published newspaper — and its website — contain news.
Best of luck to Helen as she moves up I-91!
