At the end of last year we were posting regularly on the departures of long time on-air reporters and anchors from Fox 61. Many of the exits were related to an effort by management to require reporters to shoot their own video.
As we head into the fall of this year, Fox 61 is on a hiring spree and all the new hires are joining the team as multi-skilled journalists. In other words, they report and shoot.
The additions to the team include:
Nick Bradshaw, who covered the Uvalde school shooting while working in Texas.
Alexa Harley, who will be covering sports and recently worked in Huntsville, Alabama.
And Jaylon Anderson who will cover sports and handle writing and video production.
This conversion of the entire Fox 61 news team to MSJs has the potential transform the local news product at other Connecticut television stations, especially if the Nexstar(WTNH) merger with Tegna(WTIC-TV) eventually wins approval.
