Dr. Henry Lee, the well known forensic scientist who helped build the reputation of the Connecticut State Police, is dead at the age of 87.

During his career he worked on many high profile cases in Connecticut and across the country. He was the top criminalist for the State Police Crime Lab and served as the commissioner of the Department of Public Safety toward the end of his career in Connecticut State government. Lee founded the University of New Haven’s forensic science program, regarded as one of the best in the country.

Throughout his career Lee was considered media friendly and accessible. If you were a reporter covering crime or the court system or the State Police – chances are you would have crossed paths with Lee and he would have been happy to talk to you.
