Here are the major news updates from today:
- Grocery stores in the state have announced new policy to limit the amount of people allowed in a store at one time. Only half the regular maximum capacity will be let inside. “Shoppers have also been asked to only send one family member at a time during shopping trips,” according to the Stamford Daily Voice.
- Homeless shelters throughout the state are relocating residents to hotels. Hartford Courant has more.
- Jorge Perez, Commissioner of the CT Department of Banking, announced today that 62 banks and credit unions have committed to a 90-day grace period for mortgage payments of those affected by the pandemic. Credit scores will be unaffected and there will be no new foreclosures for 60 days. More financial institutions are expected to sign on in the near future. - Governor Lamont said at his daily press conference that there is currently a five-week waiting period for unemployment benefits due to the over 100,000 claims filed.
- Businesses and nonprofits considered essential during this time have been enumerated by the DECD here.
- Gov. Lamont has asked the private sector to help supply the state with personal protective equipment (PPE). The state’s request for PPE can be found here.
- Access Health CT added a special enrollment period for those uninsured that began March 19 and continues until April 2. Coverage begins April 1.
