Long time Hartford Courant sports writer Bruce Berlet is dead at age 77.
Berlet graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1970 and immediately began work at the Courant and stayed until he retired in 2008. At the height of the Courant’s influence as a regional news power, Berlet covered thirty Masters, fifteen U.S. Opens and three Ryder Cups as the paper’s golf writer. He was a long time member of the Tallwood Country Club in Hebron.
