An Extra $100M

A Florida investor is offering to put $100 million toward a bid to buy Tribune Publishing, parent of the Hartford Courant, and several other legacy newspapers across the country.

It is the latest development in an effort by a Maryland based businessman to thwart a plan by Alden Global Capital to purchase the chain of papers.

The move by Alden to buy Tribune has increased the level of fear and trepidation running through Tribune newsrooms in recent weeks given Alden’s reputation for severe cost cutting.
