Roger Catlin

After 25 years at the Hartford Courant, Roger Catlin has handed in his resignation. He is moving to D.C. where his wife, housing advocate Diane Randall, is currently working. Roger has covered TV for the last nine years but previously was the Courant’s excellent rock critic. Here’s his goodbye from his last sunday column:

I bid farewell to readers of The Hartford Courant today after 25 years, most of it in the features department, where for the past nine years I’ve been writing about television after 12 years as rock critic.

I was happy to be on the job at a time when the ambitions and depth of series television frequently outstripped anything happening in film, while reality shows provided the guiltiest pleasures anyone needed.

I always appreciated the thoughtfulness (and patience) of readers over the years. Your careful reading and guidance was appreciated. I’m moving with my family to Washington, D.C., a city that marches to the beat of its own imagined television drama (one that’s usually found on CSPAN). See you down the line.
