Return of a Connecticut Institution

Not so long ago, the only poll that mattered in Connecticut was the UConn/Hartford Courant poll. (In the early 90s, Quinnipiac –then a college — started issuing polls, a concept some political reporters found kind of humorous. Of course  Quinnipiac has had the last laugh as its Polling Institute now has a strong national presence.)

But it’s good to see that the UConn/Courant poll (1978-2002) has been revived this week.

UConn and The Courant will release the first results of the partnership starting this week, with data gauging national public opinion on the presidential election as well as Connecticut residents’ thoughts on the closely watched U.S. Senate race here.Next week, a new set of data will explore in detail Americans’ experiences with an economy still struggling to recover from the worst downturn since the Great Depression.
